Nestled at 3432 Nostrand Ave, Brennan & Carr offers a culinary experience steeped in tradition and nostalgia, making it a true Brooklyn classic.

The atmosphere within the cozy, wood-paneled walls is distinctly “old school,” inviting guests to revel in the simplicity of good food and good company. Brennan & Carr specializes in mouthwatering roast beef sandwiches, particularly their famed “double dip” option. Imagine tender, succulent roast beef lovingly dipped in flavorful broth and served on a freshly baked club roll. The broth, enriched with aromas of savory herbs and spices, perfectly complements the juicy beef, ensuring every bite is an explosion of flavor. For an even more indulgent experience, try the “Knife Fork Job,” where the juicy goodness is poured over the entire sandwich, transforming it into a succulent delight.

The menu doesn't stop at roast beef, though. Their new offering, the Roast Pork Loin, is a must-try. This homemade special, dipped in savory Au Jus and served on a freshly baked roll, promises to tantalize your taste buds with every bite. As one customer happily shared, the food here is comforting and fills the soul, making it a fantastic choice for both newcomers and longtime patrons alike.

And let’s not forget about the sides! Must-have accompaniments like crispy French fries and golden onion rings complement your meal perfectly, while a selection of cold beers on tap adds to the inviting experience. The desserts, especially the apple pie a la mode, come highly praised, making for the perfect sweet ending to your culinary adventure.

But Brennan & Carr is more than just great food; it’s about the people. Many reviews reflect the genuine warmth of the staff, who embody the classic spirit of hospitality. Brennan & Carr — A True Brooklyn Classic Since 1938. Small, old, and full of charm - Brennan & Carr doesn't chase trends, it proudly stays true to itself. With its wood-paneled walls and timeless vibe, this place feels like a slice of American history. We went for their legendary hot roast beef sandwiches dipped in broth - tender, flavorful, and absolutely unforgettable. Nothing fancy - just rich, comforting taste the way it's meant to be. If you appreciate places with character and history, where the food speaks for itself, Brennan & Carr is a must-visit. It's not just a sandwich spot - it's a piece of Brooklyn's soul. P.S. Payment is cash only.

Old school roast beef served in old school environs with old school service. Get the classic double dipped roast beef sandwich w/ cheese and a side of extra beef broth - delicious! Cash only and no delivery, so you know there's great value to be had here. Also - please don't take this to go, this is meant to be enjoyed inside the building sitting down on a table.

You don’t stumble into Brennan & Carr by accident. It’s not on a foodie walking tour. It’s not nestled in some tree-lined brownstone Brooklyn fairy tale. No, this shrine to meat and memory is perched unapologetically on a Sheepshead Bay strip that smells faintly of auto repair and nostalgia. It’s old. Old in the way that matters. Built in 1938 by two carpenters who knew a damn sight more about beef than branding, Brennan & Carr is the kind of place that survived by ignoring the whims of culinary trendiness. Truffle oil? Go back to Manhattan. Vegan aioli? The door’s over there. What they have here is beef. Real beef. And broth. Lots of it. The menu’s crown jewel—and let’s be honest, the reason you’re here—is the roast beef sandwich. But calling it a sandwich feels like calling Miles Davis a guy with a horn. This is the hot beef. A secular sacrament. A soft kaiser roll, lovingly soaked (double-dipped, if you know what you’re doing) in a broth that could resurrect the dead or at least keep them coming back. There’s a taxonomy to the broth-dunking process that borders on the spiritual: the Dingle Dangle for the timid, a polite brush against beefy baptism; the Double Dip for the true believers; and then, the apex—the Knife & Fork Job (KFJ)—a glorious, drippy, soggy mess that turns bread into sponge and beef into velvet. The broth—God, the broth—isn’t some factory-made salt bath. It’s an elixir, the liquified essence of roast, steeped in its own truths. No shortcuts. No compromises. Just beef, bone, and time. Step into the dining room and you’re back in a world where wood paneling was a lifestyle and not an aesthetic. The waitstaff doesn’t perform, they serve. Efficient. Warm. Human. You might sit next to a cop, a city worker, a judge, or a guy who sells knockoff handbags from the trunk of a Lincoln. All are welcome. All are eating the same thing. That’s democracy. And then there’s the Garjulo Burger, a glorious monstrosity that answers the eternal question: what if we took a burger and gave it the hot beef treatment? American cheese, sautéed onions, roast beef stacked high like a Bronx tenement, and—of course—a generous bath in that sacred broth. This is not fusion. This is a fever dream. And it works. Nothing here is pretty. It’s better than pretty. It’s honest. The food isn’t plated—it’s presented, with the reverence of a family heirloom. And while the city’s culinary elite are out chasing fermented sea foam and beef tartare lollipops, Brennan & Carr stays exactly where it’s always been—serving food that doesn’t need to change. So here’s the verdict, for what it’s worth: 5 stars. Not because it’s perfect, but because it doesn’t give a damn about being perfect. Brennan & Carr is what happens when a place doesn’t try to impress anyone—it just tries to feed you well and make you feel like you’ve come home. And in a city that forgets itself daily, that’s more than enough. So grab a napkin—hell, grab a stack. Order the hot beef, double-dipped. Eat with your hands, your elbows, your heart. And when the last bite is gone and your fingers smell like broth and memory, raise a glass to the simple, noble act of feeding people the right way. To Brennan & Carr. To Brooklyn. To beef.

Classic old school joint, we have been going here for years! Fantastic roast beef sandwiches with a tasty au jus gravy, French fries, onion rings, and an ice cold Bud on tap! It's like a trip back in time.

5 stars. Nothing else to say. Just come and if you get Chris as your server you're in luck because he's a gem. Order the Gargiulo and don't look back. Don't be cheap, get the wings. Apple Pie ala mode is the only way, run don't walk, it'll help with the calories.

I came here for the roast beef sandwich and it was incredible but what was even more incredible was the service. The staff were so nice and friendly. I ordered the fries and the onion rings as sides and they were hot and fresh. For desert, I ordered the apple pie ala mode and the chocolate lava cake; they were both incredible, the lava cake and the apple pie were not too sweet and super rich; the ice cream also complemented the deserts. Great experience, would love to come back!

Old school, straightforward, friendly but strangely polished - this is a good spot to check out if you’re in the area. Their roast beef sandwiches are definitely good, and you have your pick of “wetness”. White coat service is a nice touch.
